Chris Marz considers music the most important thing in his life. He sings and plays guitar, piano, violin, drums, bass, and clarinet. He is a recording artist (The Shadow Chameleon), a composer of classical and film score music, and also a trained actor and an avid soccer player. As a recording artist, thus far Chris has recorded six albums under his birth name (in which he sings and plays every instrument), though he has only officially released his latest, FOLLOW ME (2008). Since its release, however, Chris has decided to drop his birth name all together, and call his musical project The Shadow Chameleon, a stage name developed from a concept on the album "Attribute" (one album prior to the 2008 release).
As a composer, Chris has written many works for various ensembles including full orchestra, chamber groups, and solo instruments. He has studied at the Cole Conservatory of Music in Long Beach, CA and had his music performed and recorded by such ensembles as The Eclipse Quartet and The Robin Cox Ensemble. He has also scored several short films including Dir. Carlo Garduno's "Scrap" (which he also starred in), Dir. Wen Ren's "Parallel Tracks," and Dir. Melissa Yu's "Scooter."
Aside from film music and TSC, Chris has played and recorded music in many varieties. Because he has never felt that he had to fit into a specific category, he has experimented. As a performer, he has sang and played lead guitar for bands from alternative to death metal, played violin in orchestras, played drums for various rock bands, been an mc in a hip hop project, played bass for a punk band, and played solo classical piano in malls.
In addition to music, Chris dabbles in acting. He has had commercial representation (Brand Model and Talent) as well as management (Crenshaw Ent.) and has studied under the direction of such working professionals as Sydney Walsh, Carrie Dobro, and Eugene Buica.
Right now, Chris is working on the follow up to his 2008 release and playing shows in the southern California area with his band THE SHADOW CHAMELEON.
